I love spending time in airports
I love spending time in airports.
Said no one, ever?
Especially since Covid, I’ve found the experience of flying in general to be terrible.
Quick side note for those of you who are newer around here. While most of my emails focus on business, growth, AI, etc., once in a while I go on a rant. Usually about once a month.
Today is one of those days.
Last week we took a trip to Halifax. For those of you non-Canadians, Halifax is on the east coast of Canada and a beautiful, quiet city. I was invited to speak at a conference for Canadian judges, which was pretty freakin’ cool to be honest, especially since they covered my flight/hotel, so my wife and I decided to make a little trip out of it.
While the trip and seafood out east were awesome, has anyone else noticed that - especially since Covid - flying just sucks?
Every flight is delayed, more flights than normal get cancelled and things just move slower.
On a good day I’m anxious in an airport, but layer all of that post-Covid nonsense on top, and let’s just say my wife doesn’t love Airport Josh.
Now get this: it was the first time flying with our 5 month old baby, and let me tell you, if you’ve never made it through an airport with a baby, car seat and stroller, you’ve never been through an airport.
Felt like crossing the finish line of a marathon when we finally got home with all of our luggage, baby gear, living/breathing baby in one piece.
Anyway, I’m not sure what happened to airports and/or airlines since Covid, but I swear it’s all less predictable for some reason. If you happen to know why, let me know.
Now the saving grace is that all things considered, the trip went quite well:
our flight there and back only left about 20 minutes late, basically considered “early” these days
we flew on non travel days, so the lines weren’t that long and the staff were very helpful with the baby gear
our daughter did about as well as we could have asked on the flights. Minimal crying, maximum cuteness
having a baby also gets you tons of attention. No one cared about us at all until we started pushing our baby around in a stroller. Airport, hotel elevators, you name it, people lean over to wave and say hi (to our baby, not us…)
While our first flying trip with our baby went well, we’re going to wait a bit until trip #2. Back to the grind this week.
And while I’m a total homebody who can’t help you with travel, if you need any help starting/growing your biz, personal brand, implementing AI or similar, hit “reply” and let me know.
Have a great day,
