On the fence about some stuff
Thinking a lot about where to take the Solopreneur Grind (SG) community right now.
Especially since things are getting busier at Visto (the legal tech startup I cofounded) as we’re exploring our next big feature set, and my law practice where I’m getting into a good groove with family law and slowly taking on more clients.
Side note: I’m scheduled to argue my first in-person motion in front of a judge on July 22, so if you’re interested in hearing about how that goes, I’ll keep you posted.
Anyway, it begs the question of how to properly fit in more SG stuff without interupting Visto/law, because those pay my bills.
First, as you know, I’ve been running the Friday Grind sessions for almost 2 months now, where we do a 45 minute virtual work session. It’s been great for meeting new people and getting an extra session of productive work in too.
The 2 biggest things I’ve learned from the first few sessions are 1) people really like them, but 2) it’s tough to pick a good day/time where people can make it. I’ve been running them on Fridays but that doesn’t seem like a good day for most, so I think I’m going to switch to something like Tuesday or Wednesday afternoon.
What do you think - especially if you’ve been wanting to attend a Friday Grind session but haven’t been able to, when in the week would work best for you?
Second, I’m been wanting to formalize it into more of a community as well, because 1) if I turn it into a proper product, people would commit to it more (as we know, no one values “free”) and 2) it would include more than 1 Grind session per week.
For example, the community would include:
the 1 virtual work session per week
a monthly mastermind call where we talk about business struggles and how to overcome them
weekly check-in to set goals and keep each other accountable (by text, not a call)
and maybe a few other things, but this would be meant to help folks get more done on their business with a network of fellow solopreneurs, not soak up too much time each month.
I’ve largely designed it based on what I’d want an online community to look like for myself: accountability, motivation, productivity, but not too much of a time commitment, because I want to spend the majority of my time building my businesses.
Anyway, that’s where my head is at there. If there is enough interest in something like that - for a price, but it wouldn’t be expensive, just enough to weed out the duds and also get real commitment from members - then I’ll launch it asap.
Let me know if you’d want to join and I’ll roll with it from there.
Have a great day,
