Why I'm writing more than ever (without AI)
I’ve been reading a lot about AI lately, obviously.
And as always, I want to read about both the good things people are saying, and also the bad. I think this is the only way to form an unbiased, educated opinion and outlook on things.
Full disclosure, we’re building an AI tech company in the legal space at Visto so I’m definitely a bit biased in the direction of AI, but I also still practice law and put out a lot of content which have no financial benefit to promoting AI (to this list, social media, etc.).
AI, like anything, has pros and cons. To say it’s the end of the world, or the world’s saving grace, would be stupid in my humble opinion. Like most things, it’s somewhere in the middle.
There are major benefits for some people in some situations, and many reasons not to use it for others.
One thing that I found interesting after reflecting on the topic a bit, is that I’m actually still writing as much - if not more - content myself than before AI burst onto the scene a few years ago.
While some people are pushing AI hard to replace humans for things like writing, and I do use it for writing in some cases, I still write most of my/our content myself.
Here’s why you should keep writing:
if you’re a good writer, it’s better than AI written stuff (tell me you haven’t noticed all of the AI written garbage on LinkedIn, Twitter, etc. recently)
it’s easier to stand out as a good writer, due to all the AI-generated crap
to become a good writer, you need to write more
it’s a great way to become a better communicator. The act of writing and editing is a great mental exercise in general, in many ways
it’s a form of meditation, at least for me. Just the act of writing 3-4 of these posts per week gives me more clarity, thoughtfullness, etc.
content is king, and the more you put out, the more you’ll build your brand, business, etc.
Now don’t get me wrong, I still use AI to write some stuff, like some basic web pages, some blog posts, youtube video descriptions and other stuff like that.
But for important sales pages, email/social content, emails and for my law practice, legal submissions, it’s all me baby!
What about you - using it a lot, a little, or in combination? Let me know.
Have a great day,
