131% increase in video views last month (and how I did it)
I’m no marketing genius, but I do think I’ve gotten pretty good at it over the years.
Especially content creation/growth.
One of my more recent experiments has gone really well, to the point that I can’t believe I don’t see more people doing it to grow their brand/business.
Before I jump in, a quick reminder that if you haven’t already, please get your vote in for my recent poll on my recent post here, as the results so far are neck and neck! I’ll share them at the end of the week.
Alright, back to business.
As you know, I host the Solopreneur Grind Podcast and I’ve been testing different ways to promote it, get more exposure, etc. to get more listeners and continue to grow our solopreneur community.
My latest test has yielded the below in the last 30 days:
The absolute numbers are pretty good (ie. ~15k views), but it’s the percentage growth that I think is really crazy (ie. 130+% increase from the previous 30 days).
Imagine that for a second: 15k views per month, on your content that could be promoting you, your business, product, etc.
Not too shabby, eh? And I’m just warming up with this new strategy.
Anyway, let’s talk about how I did it:
First, I make sure to record really good podcast episodes. If you haven’t already, you can check out recent episodes here to see some examples.
Hot tip: if you’re doing interview-style podcasts, it’s 50% asking good questions and 50% having good guests. If you can do those things, the rest is relatively easy (although some people take to hosting/interviewing quicker than others).
Second, I use tech/AI to edit and post the episodes. I suck at editing and design, so I use Descript to do it in minutes. Here’s my recent post going step-by-step showing you how I edit and post my podcast.
Third, I use more tech/AI to create short form videos (30 to 60 seconds each) from the podcast episode. By using Opus, I can generate, edit and schedule 15+ clips on 6 different platforms in about 20 minutes.
That’s right. 15 or more clips on 6 different platforms.
That’s 90 video posts in ~20 minutes, and this includes a title, hashtags, etc.
Now here’s the last piece of the puzzle: I didn’t give up after 1 episode.
I’ve done this for more than 10 straight podcast episodes now, which means roughly 900 posts in the span of the last ~5 months.
Like most things in business and life, it’s the consistency that leads to pay off in the long run, which is part of why I think that even after 5 months, my views per month continue to increase by so much (over 100% per month!).
Now here’s the last surprise: that screenshot I showed you above? That data is only from my Youtube Shorts and Twitter posts.
Because right now Opus analytics only works for those 2 platforms, the 15k views from last month don’t include my Tiktok, IG Reels, LinkedIn or Facebook views (so I’m probably getting at least double the amount).
Anyway, I’ve convinced myself this is a really great way to scale a brand/business right now: record long form podcast, repurpose into short form videos and share on as many platforms as possible, using tech/AI to do it in record time.
Lastly, this could easily be used for any brand or business:
if you’re a service based business like a law firm, consultant, etc., have guests on to talk about your area of expertise or just record solo episodes yourself
if you’re a tech/ecom/product business, record longer form build-in-public style vlogs and/or put out content that your target market would find interesting
What do you think - decent growth opportunity? Let me know if you need help giving it a try.
Have a great day,
