Last night I audited my social media: here's what I did.
Usually 3-4 times a year I do a big social media and content creation audit. Here's how it went last night.
A few times a year I do a social media audit.
No, this isn’t to measure and adjust my consumption (because I try not to consume much on social - instead I focus on content creation and driving traffic for my business).
In fact, if you’re consuming more than you’re creating on social, I’d argue you’re doing it all wrong.
But I digress.
Anyway, what I’ve found is that my content creation and social media strategies evolve over time, and so it’s a good idea to audit it a few times a year. I’d say my average is 3 to 4.
For example, here’s what I did last night:
reviewed my core business focus and niche for right now
based on that, reviewed and updated my social profiles accordingly (headlines, About Me, profiles, etc.)
made sure I’m staying consistent across platforms (is this Substack aligned with my LinkedIn profile, Youtube channel, etc.)
reviewed my content creation schedule/cadence to ensure it’s productive and that I’m keeping up with it
I feel like this is important because 1) as entrepreneurs our businesses and focuses are always evolving so we need to adapt our personal brand building accordingly, and 2) as they say, measure what matters.
Once I started planning, tracking and re-visiting my social media/content creation, it really started to take off (especially on LinkedIn where I’m closing in on 18,000 followers).
It also reminded me of a string of guides I’ve been meaning to create on the above (thanks to subscriber Brendan for the great suggestion).
More specifically, a series of guides called “How to get your first 100…”. These will be super simple, actionable guides on how to start crushing certain things for your business, like getting your first 100 email subscribers, social media followers, etc.
That kind of stuff.
This will be an on-going series that I’ll keep adding to, but it’ll only be available to paid subs (luckily it’s not very expensive to upgrade and you’ll more than make it back using these guides).
Anyway, I’m a democratic man, so I’m putting the first guide to a vote! Please let me know which guide you’d find most helpful here:
Always appreciate the feedback!
And if you need any help, don’t forget I have a few more slots for free business coaching calls that you can book with me here before they’re all gone.
Have a great day,

In your audit do you review followers subscribers and remove/unfollow unproductive ones?
