Repurposing newsletter content for faster growth
I love the questions I’m getting related to email list building so going to continue sharing (and answering) them here.
Especially since I think every single business and brand should have an email list of their own.
Here’s the Q:
"How best to repurpose this newsletter content on other channels - the 'content waterfall' as they say?”
Great question and I think now it is more important and easier than ever.
So many people get intimidated at the thought of growing a big following on social, but if you build the right systems and strategies, it can just be another arm of your business that can grow consistently over time.
My first question to the above question would be “which other channels do you use?” because this will slightly alter my answer.
For example, if you’re looking to repurpose your newsletter to a Youtube video, it’s a bit of a longer process to take the text, adapt into more of a video script, record a video (or have someone/thing animate it for you), do some Youtube SEO work and then post.
Alternatively, if you’re looking to post more on Twitter like I have been lately, you could build an automated AI workflow to take the text from your email, summarize it into 5 different posts and post them separately on Twitter for you. Here’s a link to one of my recent posts explaining how I built it.
So step 1 is determine what other channels you want to repurpose to, then step 2 would be to find the best way - for you - to repurpose at scale that will lead to quality content on that platform.
You don’t want to just copy/paste in most cases because each platform is a bit different. Even just text posts on LinkedIn versus Twitter could be different, especially if you want to really optimize each one.
But my advice, especially if you’re newer to email lists and/or social media, is to keep it simple (stupid?), because if you make it too hard and intimidating, you won’t even start and then you won’t make any progress.
In my case, all I do is take each of these substacks and feed it into that Make.com automation I built (linked above), and that’s it. It repurposes and posts for me automatically.
Another option is to just hire someone. Will cost a bit more money and maybe take time to train/manage, but you could easily find a VA on Fiverr, Upwork, etc., to take your emails and repurpose them into tons of other pieces of content to post.
As usual, it depends, but start small and you can always scale up from there. What’s most important is to just freakin’ start, because the world is turning and people are scrolling anyway, you might as well be the one they’re tuning into, right?
Use this as your queue to pull the trigger…
