Another week, another awesome pod where I got to virtually sit down with Mike Taber to talk about his experience building SaaS companies and more.
Mike is super experienced and has some impressive businesses under his belt, so I highly recommend giving it a listen - or a watch (below).
My biggest takeaway from the episode? Test your idea before you build it
In Mike’s words (at around the 11:30 mark of the episode):
“Last thing I would say is don't be afraid to push people to actually pay and put their credit card down because that is the ultimate vote of confidence - having a credit card number that somebody has said “yes, you can charge me for this”, and even if you don't have the product yet, you can make all sorts of personal guarantees like “I will refund your money if I don't deliver on this”, you eat whatever the cost is because the transaction costs are maybe 3% at most.
So even if you take $2,000 worth of pre orders and you decide you're not going to do it and you refunded all that money, you're out $60. It's not that big a deal, especially in comparison to being in a situation where you spend the next three to five years of your life working on something and it just never works out.”
