Turning 1 blog into 10 posts with AI
Here's how I'm using AI to create 10 social media posts out of 1 Substack post
If you read my last post, you know I’m doing some tinkering with new tools to try and increase my social media output.
Side note: if you’re not already pumping out content on social media for yourself personally and/or your business, you’re missing out (and you should read my last post to know why).
Anyway, here’s the result of my little side project from the past weekend:
And in case you’re wondering what the heck that is or how it helps me turn 1 blog posts into 10 social media posts, have no fear, for I shall explain it right now.
The above is a screenshot of the new “scenario” I built using Make.com (affiliate link here if you want to try it/support the substack). In short, Make is a no-code tool that let’s you connect and automate different workflows between apps, AI, software, really anything you want.
For example, here is exactly what the above flow does using just Google Sheets and OpenAI:
it scans a Google Sheet of mine to see if I’ve uploaded a new Substack post URL
if it sees a new one, it sends the post to OpenAI to summarize it into 5 topics or lessons, then it sends the output back to Google Sheets into a new column
from there it splits into 5 different pathways, where each one of them pulls 1 of the 5 topics/lessons, writes a social media text post, creates a related image and then sends the text and image URL back to Google Sheets
In practice, this allows me to copy/paste a single URL into Google Sheets and about ~30 seconds later, I have the text and image for 5 separate posts that I will then review and post on Twitter and LinkedIn.
It definitely took some time - both to get comfortable using Make and also to tweak the AI prompts - but my plan is to try this out for the next few weeks, reviewing and posting each one manually, and once I continue to tweak and improve the AI, I can then hook up Twitter and LinkedIn and add that into the automation.
Which means that eventually the entire process would be automated: the workflow would not only generate the text and images, but also post them on Twitter and LinkedIn for me, each day of the week.
And people say AI can’t be used for good…
What do you think - would you give it a try?
Let me know if you have any questions and happy to go into more detail in future emails.
Oh and if you want to see the output, make sure you’re following me on twitter and/or linkedin too!
Have a great day,
